A Day At Sukhothai Ruins

It has always been daddy plan to bring granny and grandpa to visit this beautiful early kingdom of Sukhothai. Daddy woke up fairly early in the morning to check who is Pailyn Hotel which is located only 4km away from the ruins but this hotel isn't that good for the price. The price daddy got when we got there is 1600bt per room but when mommy asked it was only 1100bt per room, a wide different so decided to check out those guesthouses which was full yesterday. The first guesthouse he got to was MG Guesthouse and incredibly they have enough rooms which was clean, new and reasonable.

After that we started our one day tour around the ruins of the old kingdom which territory stretches until the malay peninsula, now Malaysia (where I am from).

A Long Drive to Sukhothai

This would be the start of a 5 days road trip around Thailand as planned by daddy and mommy. But it started out wasn't too good when the van arrived to pick us up wasn't the van daddy wanted so we had to wait for another van to arrive. Initially we were departing around 0800hrs in the morning but we did not leave until noon so we only arrive in Sukhothai at 1900hrs with a brieft lunch stop at Nakhon Sawan.

It was a very long and tiring journey and we did not get a good hotel since most of the hotel that daddy wanted to stay were full. We ended up staying in Rajhatavee Hotel, not a well maintain place to stay for even a night.

A Day Trip to Burmese Border

Since daddy's first trip to Chedi Sam Ong (Three Pagoda Pass), he has always dream in owning a small piece of farm land and hopefully turn it into a guesthouse when the border actually opens up. So this time daddy took all of us to the border and see if there are any land available. The trip took almost 4hrs from Kanchanaburi with a few stops along the way. We arrived in Chedi Sam Ong at 1130hrs just in time for lunch. After that Great Uncle Lim took us Burma border town, Payathonzu, and show grandpa how the border look like.

After we walked around, we drove out to check out the land and unfortunately there isn't any more land available next to the main road except for a piece of land which is 12rai but cost 1million baht since it was planted with teak wood trees. It's way to expensive since the lands title isn't very legal because of the proximity to the border.

So we drove to Sangkhlaburi to visit Great Auntie before visiting a revered temple and the longest wooden bridge in thailand, the Mon bridge. On the way back daddy this time insisted to have dinner in his favourite restaurant, Chokardon

A Ride To Kanchanaburi

This would be my second trip to Kanchanaburi but the first time for grandpa and grandma. Before we left the hotel, Auntie Muay and her husband came over to visit us. They bought me a nice little gold buddha pendant to keep me save and healthy.

We left the hotel around noon after having my porridge and took 2 taxi with Aunty Aey to Royal Hotel at Sanam Luang before boarding the van(1300bt - whole van) for Kanchanaburi. It was a pleasant ride and took us only just slightly more than 2 hours as we stopped for lunch on the way there. We got to Kanchanaburi around 1700hrs and went straight to check into Ploy Guesthouse.

Later after that Great Uncle Ser Koo come over to picked all of us for dinner in a new restaurant since daddy's favourite restaurant was fully booked. It was a nice restaurant but the food isn't so great and it was very priced for Kanchanaburi standard as well. Anyway it was a nice family gathering along River Kwai.

After dinner, we went to Great Granny's shop a while before going back to the hotel.
