Great Granny's Wake - First Day

We left home around 1100hrs this morning for Ipoh for Great Granny's wake. Great Granny arrived home from Hospital after being kept in the hospital cold room. Anyway we arrived in Ipoh just after 1400hrs. Initially daddy wanted to check into De Hotel in Ipoh Garden but unfortunately, it was fully booked so we ended up in Fair Park Hotel which is located just outside Great Granny's house and where the wake is being held.

We got to Great Granny's house around 1700hrs together with Tai Ku Poh, Yee Ku Poh and Aunty Cyn Cyn since we checked into the same hotel. Everyone has arrived and we were the last to arrive today actually, I met Sam Ku Poh, Sei Ku Poh with Grand Uncle TK, Mm Ku Poh with Grand Uncle Philip, Sei Sook Gong and Sei Kam Poh as well as Uncle I-Hui with Uncle Jeremy. Everyone were earing red, which was suppose to be a no-no in a chinese wake but because Great Granny was over 90 years old, we all family members were told to wear red to celebrate Great Granny's good life. Did some prayers which I refused to follow but instead running around the house.

More prayers and more relative will be arriving tomorrow from Kuala Lumpur while Uncle I-Hui will be going back to Singapore before heading to Lijiang to help out in Uncle I-Shin's hotel, Bivou Lijiang.

Daddy Got Back from Ipoh

Daddy just got back from Ipoh today after a night in Ipoh. We will be going back to Ipoh tomorrow evening to prepare for Great Granny's wake from Friday onwards.

Dadd got a train from KL Sentral to Ipoh which took 2hours and 20mins, a very comfortable ride on the ETS (Electric Train Service) but daddy almost missed his train since he took a komuter from Mid Valley and waited for more than 45mins before the train arrives and another 20mins for the short ride! The first 30mins of the ride, until Rawang, the tracks weren't very good but after, it was a smooth ride and the train was traveling up to 140km/h at certain stretches. The fare was RM35 per adult for Gold Train with 8 stops before reaching Ipoh Train Station.

Daddy drove grandpa back from Ipoh and got home around 1530hrs.

Great Granny - Passed Away

It was a sad news when daddy got a call from Grandpa in Ipoh that Great Granny (阿太-aa3 taai3) - Lau Kwai Yong at the age of 93, has just passed away in the hospital at around 11am this morning.

Below are 2 photos mommy took when we visited Great Granny at Fatimah Hospital in Ipoh on Dec 21st, 2011. The doctor initially told us that Great Granny was fine and was ready to be discharged but because Tun (Great Granny's Maid) wasn't ready on how to feed her so grandpa decided to keep Great Granny in the hospital for a few more days.

When we visited Great Granny, her breathing was loud and she was shaking but the doctor told us that it was normal because of old age. Then on Thursday Great Granny had fever and continue to shake until this morning she passed away peacefully!

Wow!

Wow! I have not been actively writing in this blog lately until yesterday when Uncle Chang came over and talk to us about blogging. Well for me, writing this blog was more of a diary experience of how I grow up so at least when I am all grown up, I could read back what I did when I was young! Anyway that is not the point here. Uncle Chang came over and talk to us about making money! and daddy was like "HOW?, we are not doing this to make money but to let Aeryn see what she did when she was young"

Then today, being curious of what Uncle Chang said yesterday, I login and check the details on this blog and to my surprise there are actually you, aunties and uncles leaving comments on my older post? Wow! since I never checked the old post and I do not check my emails either! Guess I would need to be check my emails now more frequently.

Anyway thank you very much for all the comment posted and will try to read them all tonight and delete all the unwanted comments.

Discharged From Hospital

After spending almost 2 nights in the hospital I was finally discharge from the hospital just a while ago. It all started.....

On Friday (18 Nov 2011), it is also my last day of school and we were having our last day of school party but something unfortunate happened to me, a cupboard fell on my head (but was later told that I fell on the floor) and I injured my head! It was quite a big bump!. Initially teacher called mommy at 1030hrs when it just happen but we thought it was nothing serious until when mommy picked me up from school and only found out that it was quite serious. Immediately mommy called the clinic just outside out house to get a doctor's (Yek Child's Specialist) opinion. It was then the doctor told daddy and mommy that it is now only an external injury, no crack to the skull, which was a relief until the doctor said that there might be an internal injury which we do not know now since I did not have any of the symptoms which the doctor asked,
1) Fever
2) Dizzyness / Headache
3) Vomitting
4) Fits
5) Change in Behavior / Sleepiness

Then it all happen at 2000hrs, dinner time, I started vomiting out everything I had during lunch, then daddy called the clinic we went earlier to see what we should do, and we were told if this is just the first vomit, it could be due to something else and told daddy to rush me to the hospital if I vomit more than 3 times. Since I could not have any food, mommy gave me some milk but I threw up again, this is when daddy got worried and started calling Uncle Edmund and Uncle Aun, both doctors for advice and decided to take me to the hospital for a second opinion.

Just as we left home, I threw up again! just after 40mins interval and daddy decided to rush me to University Malaysia Medical Centre since Uncle Edmund mentioned that the hospital has a good neurological department if anything serious happened to me. We arrived at the hospital around 2230hrs and waited for around 30mins before it was my turn. Dr. Frienky attended to me and was told to do an x-ray. By the time I finished my x-ray, I threw up a total of 5 times already! This is when the doctor is not sure if I had any internal injury since if I had vomited six times, I would need to do a CT scan, which is not recommended for a child my age. So the doctor spoke to neurological department if it was fine for me to do a CT Scan, and it was initially agreed that I should do a scan but later a doctor from the neuro department told daddy and it was better to admit and put me on observation before committing to a CT scan.

By now I had threw up 6 times and we knew that any fluid or solid fed to me would be thrown out, doctor suggested to put me on drip (I calls it Vitamin Water). I was woken up from sleep and place a inserted a tube into my hand. This was the first time I cried since I came the hospital. I finally put to bed at around 0300hrs. Woke up the next day and everything seems alright, no vomiting, no dizziness, no headache, nothing and I was like my usual self. Daddy asked if I could be discharge but the nurse told daddy that I had to put up another night for observation.

So it was today that a doctor from the neuro department came and told mommy that I can be discharge since everything looks alright but mommy would still need to observe if any of the top symptoms appear over the next 7 days. Thank goodness nothing serious happen to me!

Chiang Mai - Day 2

It was a long day. We went shopping at Baan Tawai for furniture since daddy wanted to get a solid hard wood dining table. But unfortunately we were unable to find any as daddy was looking for teak and the price was too expensive.

We bought some stool made from monkey wood, elephants, and other decorative product but not the dining table.

We thought of going somewhere else but by the time we finished shopping it was already 1800hrs. Later that night mommy and aunt Catherine took me for the Sunday Night Market, while daddy and uncle Vincent went to see some other hotels for the last night before we leave Chiang Mai.

Lunch : Did not really had lunch, just some biscuits.
Dinner : Pork Ball Noodle @ Baan Tawai

In Chiang Mai - Day 1

Arrived in Chiang Mai today after a 2hours 20mins flight from Hat Yai.

Daddy rented a Mazda 3 and we got to our hotel Imm Hotel without any problem on Mommy's Garmin. After checking into the hotel, mommy took us to the Saturday Night Walking Street @ Wua Lai Road over a distance of 1km. We walked the whole road but we were unable to walk back to where the car was parked. We were actually told that the whole distance was about 3km - 5km, but when we checked on mommy's GPS, it was only 1km.

Tomorrow we will be going to see some furniture in the morning at Baan Tawai before going up to Doi Suthep to view Chiang Mai. We should be ending up walking at Chiang Mai famous night market!

Lunch : Spaggetti from AirAsia
Dinner : Pork Ball Noodle

In Memories Of Uncle Calvin

It has been a while since I last updated my site. Today is a very sad day as one of daddy's good friend just passed away, Uncle Calvin Hiew Yuen Yoon, aged 46. I actually travelled with him to South America when I was 1 years old, even though Uncle refused to carry me on the backpack, we had a great time together. Uncle Calvin Rest In Peace!

Some photos I took with Uncle Calvin during our trip to South America, 4 years ago.

Hat Yai!

The was really quick! I got to the border cafe around 0400hrs and was waiting at the border around 0445hrs. We left Plaza Rakyat Terminal at 2230hrs, which took only 5 and half hours to get to the border! Amazing isn't it. The border crossing was smooth and I arrived in at home just after 0900hrs (Thai Time).

Then mommy took me to the temple to see mommy's aunty (Sam Ku Por) who passed away after being knocked down by a motorcycle. It was very sad as I just met her a few weeks ago when I was in Hat Yai. Sam Ku Por will be burried tomorrow in the evening. In the evening Granny took me to buy a helmet since it will be safer to ride a bike with a helmet on.

Below in the photo is Peng Peng, a cousin of mind. Can you see us staring at each other after a fight?

On My Way To Hat Yai

After mommy sent me to school this morning, I was scolded by my teacher, mommy could hear the teacher shouted at me about 50m away from the classroom! It was something like this, "Aeryn, where are you suppose to put your water bottle?" So when I got home, mommy asked me if I like my current teacher, and I said NO! but instead I told mommy I like Ms Ng and Ms Lim. Daddy is contemplating to change me to another class or kindy. I am currently at Kinder Kids SL4 (My Montessori)

Mommy booked the 2200hrs bus tonight for Hat Yai. I was so excited that I was carrying my backpack the whole time, with most of my precious in there! The bus departed at 2215hrs for Hat Yai and I should arrive at the border at 0600hrs tomorrow morning.

Oh Daddy!

Did not see daddy the whole day, when I got up to go to school daddy was not awake yet and daddy did not come back until I was already asleep.

Mommy wanted to take me out for dinner but since daddy's car is still in the workshop and had taken mommy's car we stayed at home instead.

Daddy also got an email from Uncle Charles wedding on my dress since I will be the flower girl for the dinner. Since mommy decided to take a bus to Hat Yai tomorrow night, guess we will need to wait till end of the week to sort out the dress for me. Daddy will not be going with us as daddy had to attend a meeting this Friday.

Seremban - Eat Only

Early this morning, mommy got a call from Uncle Aot that Sam Ku Poh had just passed away from complication after an accident happen about a week ago. Mommy is currently planning a trip back to Hat Yai soon for the funeral on Thursday.

The food trip is indeed confirm since we woke up at 1030hrs and immediately we changed and drove to Seremban to meet up with Uncle Peck and Aunty Ivy!

It was a crazy day, we had almost 6 meals today! we started off with the Beef Noodles at Seremban Main Market at 1130hrs and wanted to try the Hakka Noodle located around the corner near the market but was not open yet. So Uncle Peck drove to Yi Poh Restaurant for their famous Yi Pou Loh Shu Fun, which was different from the Loh Shu Fun I normally have! Then we went to Jusco Seremban 2 to spend some time before heading for more food!

Next stop is Seremban supposingly famous Hakka Noodle which we missed earlier this morning, Tow Kee Hakka noodle, it is actually quite good but the portion is really small and the taste is mainly lard! I did not try any since I slept when we were there until the next stop, Chai Hong Chicken Rice, which the rice is suppose to be really good, but daddy thinks the chicken is much better than the rice compare to other chicken rice shops. Anyway I ate almost half the plate of rice when I got up!

The last stop is the hidden jewel, Food Street, they have the most incredible baked marmite crab! Not that we are familiar with the other restaurant taste it tasted just perfect even after we had so much. The other dishes wasn't up to par,
1) Fish Head Noodle - So So
2) Cuttlefish Mee Hoon - Ok
3) Fried Pig's Uterus - So So
4) Yam Leave - Ok
5) Baked Marmite Crab -

Fighting In Class

As I woke up late today, I only arrived in school around 10ish but when mommy picked me up from school later, teacher told mommy that I had bitten my classmate, Moses, on the palm, because I wanted the train that Moses was holding. Mommy was shock why the teacher shouted at me when mommy arrive! It seems like the new teacher, Ms. Sha is too fierce since a day before when daddy came to pick me up, Ms. Sha was shouting at other students as well. Do you think a teacher should shout at 4 years old? Well daddy doesn't.

Then mommy walked me to school again at 1400hrs since Moses was doing his art-class and mommy did not see how bad Moses palm was. Anyway I said sorry to the teacher and Moses again when I went to school. I also promised mommy that I will never do it again.

Later in the evening, mommy drove us to Tesco.

Dad's Car

Woke up early this morning since I slept early last night!

Daddy pick me up from school today since daddy needed to send his car for repair after it was knock by another car last December along Jalan Tun Razak. By the time daddy finished submitting the documents to the workshop, it was 1300hrs and we had to meet up with Uncle Peck for lunch across the road from the workshop main road.

This is a very interesting restaurant on the dishes they serve. This restaurant is famous for its Long Dan fish, or known as Malabar Grouper or Estuary Grouper but we did not have this but instead, we had the following,
1) Steam Chicken in Ginger
2) Lala Soup
3) Fried Giant Snakehead with Butter
4) Steam Lala in Egg
5) Deep Fried Pork Knuckle
6) Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaf

I stayed in daddy's office today until daddy finished work around 1800hrs before heading to KLCC since mommy wanted to look at Etude but instead, mommy got me a glass deco kit from Kinokuniya.

Lunch : Steam Lala in Egg @ Restaurant 9888 in Cheras
